LEAP acts as a pre-cursor mission of the Lunar Zebro which aims to be the first university student built interplanetary rover in the World to the Moon.
If the pre-cursor mission is succesful, the the team will gain immense amount of operational experience in managing of a moon mission, gather essential data which could have major design impacts on the final rover design and validate crucial subsystems for the final mission in 2022.
