WHAT IS IGLUNA?

Coordinated by the Space Innovation, the [email protected] project IGLUNA 2021 offers the opportunity to 13 student teams to participate in an international, collaborative project. The mission covers six research topics: life support systems, habitat conception and structure, communication and navigation, power management, human well-being and science. The Field Campaign is planned to take place in Lucerne at the VERKEHRSHAUS – Swiss Museum of Transport and on top of Mount Pilatus in July 2021. 

OUR MISSION

The overall goal of the Lunar Zebro project at IGLUNA is to design, plan and build a swarm-like group of self-deploying, fault tolerant, inexpensive, and miniaturized robust autonomous roving robots. IGLUNA 2021 provides the project with a unique opportunity to take the first step towards implementing swarming in a Moon-like environment, as well as to test and validate some of the Lunar Zebro’s crucial subsystems.

GOALS

IGLUNA 2021 provides the project with a unique opportunity to demonstrate swarming in a Moon-like environment for the first time, as well as to test and validate some of the Lunar Zebro’s crucial subsystems.

Develop and implement a distributed algorithm for the Zebro Swarm.

Explore safely in an unknown environment

Identify waypoints for external applications

Operate continuously and autonomously for at least 5 hours without human intervention

Reach at least 40 hours of accumulated autonomous operation time for each rover

Demonstrate remote operations from Delft Control Room
